Winnipeg police allege a 32-year-old man was intoxicated when he allegedly pulled a knife on a security guard at a hotel near the airport early Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n
The Winnipeg Police Service says it happened around 1:20 a.m. at a hotel on Ellice Avenue and Berry Street.<\/p>\n
Police allege the man was intoxicated when he was asked by a 25-year-old security guard to leave the lobby of the hotel, where he was not a guest.<\/p>\n
WPS says the suspect then pulled out a knife and struck the guard several times with it in the upper body. He was allegedly uttering death threats at the same time.<\/p>\n
Police say the security guard disarmed the man, who then fled. He was arrested by police in the hotel parking lot.<\/p>\n
The security guard was not injured, police add.<\/p>\n
Cody Harper has been charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats, and other offences. He was detained by police.
