Montr\u00e9al-Trudeau Airport announced that some flights may be disrupted due to an \u201cinvestigation\u201d that led to the \u201cclosure\u201d of one of its runways, without specifying the nature of the operation.<\/p>\n
\u201cPassengers are advised to check their flight schedules before heading to the airport, as delays may occur,\u201d reads the statement published on X.<\/p>\n
The investigation was still underway around 5 p.m., but there was \u201ccurrently no threat\u201d to passenger safety, airport spokesperson Eric Forest said in an email.<\/p>\n
Forest added that both runways were operational again and, despite some delays caused by the operation, \u201cthe airport is fully operational.\u201d<\/p>\n
The S\u00fbret\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec had stated earlier that officers were responding to a situation at the airport, without specifying its nature.<\/p>\n
For its part, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) warned late in the afternoon that flights to Montreal-Trudeau Airport were grounded until at least 5:15 p.m.<\/p>\n
In its advisory, the FAA indicated that a bomb threat at Montreal Airport was the cause of the disruption. Neither the airport nor the S\u00fbret\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec (SQ) confirmed this claim, and the U.S. agency has since amended its advisory to remove the bomb threat reference.<\/p>\n
