CP24\u2019s Courtney Heels reports. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Metrolinx has launched its own investigation after a 13-year-old boy reportedly bypassed a crossing gate before he was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/toronto\/article\/young-boy-fatally-struck-by-go-train-in-mississauga\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/toronto\/article\/young-boy-fatally-struck-by-go-train-in-mississauga\/\">struck and killed by a GO train on Wednesday<\/a> as Ontario\u2019s premier offers his condolences to the child\u2019s family.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Police were called to scene on Alexandra Avenue, north of Lakeshore Road East, in Mississauga, Ont., at approximately 2:45 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Const. Tyler Bell said the victim and another \u201cyoung child\u201d were on some type of motorized bike when they crossed the barrier. He said the warning signals were working, noting that the gate was down, lights were flashing, and bells were ringing as the train approached.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">They were not accompanied by an adult. My sincere condolences go out to his family and loved ones.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Doug Ford (@fordnation) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/fordnation\/status\/2034644742273724898?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">March 19, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A \u2018sobering reminder\u2019 of \u2018how dangerous trains are\u2019: Metrolinx<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Metrolinx, which operates GO Transit, issued a statement Thursday calling the incident tragic while extending its condolences to the family and loved ones of the boy who was killed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cWhile the details of the incident are still under investigation by Peel Regional Police, this is an important and sobering reminder of the importance of rail safety and how dangerous trains are,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">According to Bell, Metrolinx will conduct the portion of the investigation as it relates to the train\u2019s involvement in the collision. Peel police\u2019s 12 Division Criminal Investigations Bureau will investigate the death.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Train service was halted in the aftermath of the collision.
