The heaviest rain is expected Thursday night into Friday morning, and will be followed by a cold front that\u2019s forecast to \u201csweep across Vancouver Island.\u201d<\/p>\n
Those who live on West Vancouver Island and encouraged to watch for potential flooding, water pooling on roads, and fast-moving water.<\/p>\n
\u201cLandslides may occur in vulnerable areas such as steep slopes, deforested areas or recent burn scars,\u201d said Environment Canada in its warning.<\/p>\n

Thursday\u2019s rainfall warning is actually a downgrade from the orange alert that was issued for the region on Monday, and that remained until Wednesday<\/a>.<\/p>\n Under Environment Canada\u2019s new colour-coded alert system<\/a>, a yellow alert means weather impacts are \u201clikely moderate, localized, and\/or short term\u201d \u2013 while an orange alert means there\u2019s potential for \u201csignificant damage\u201d or disruption and that \u201cimpacts can be major, widespread, and\/or may last a few days.\u201d<\/p>\n A yellow alert rainfall warning that was in effect for Inland Vancouver Island on Wednesday was also lifted Thursday.<\/p>\n The recent downpours have been caused by an atmospheric river that crossed over much of coastal British Columbia this week.<\/p>\n
