{"id":547158,"date":"2026-03-19T17:05:14","date_gmt":"2026-03-19T17:05:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/547158\/"},"modified":"2026-03-19T17:05:14","modified_gmt":"2026-03-19T17:05:14","slug":"nfl-would-address-troy-aikmans-work-for-the-dolphins-at-the-appropriate-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/547158\/","title":{"rendered":"NFL would address Troy Aikman&#8217;s work for the Dolphins &#8220;at the appropriate time&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Troy Aikman\u2019s apparent one-off consulting role with the Dolphins has resulted in Aikman recently saying he plans to continue working for the Dolphins \u201c<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsports.com\/nfl\/profootballtalk\/rumor-mill\/news\/troy-aikman-plans-to-continue-to-work-with-the-dolphins-in-some-capacity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">in some capacity<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That could create an issue for Aikman, ESPN, and the NFL.<\/p>\n<p>In an email to PFT, a league spokesperson said the NFL \u201cwould address this at the appropriate time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Aikman\u2019s specific role would likely be a factor. But if he\u2019s doing anything as a paid employee or consultant, the league should be concerned. Although the guardrails for Fox broadcaster\/Raiders minority owner Tom Brady have softened, he still can\u2019t attend practices or enter the facilities of the other 31 teams.<\/p>\n<p>Will Aikman have similar restrictions?<\/p>\n<p>If he\u2019s on the Miami payroll, he\u2019ll have an obligation to the Dolphins. He\u2019ll be able to gather and to share all sorts of information that he acquires as he travels from stadium to stadium, week in and week out.<\/p>\n<p>For starters, the league needs to know more about what Aikman will be doing. He said he\u2019ll continue \u201cin some capacity.\u201d In what capacity?<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a relevant question \u2014 especially since the Brady Rules, as potentially adapted to Aikman, could spark an effort by more teams to hire broadcasters as consultants or employees.
