App Store Award winner SmartGym<\/a> just rolled out an update packed with customization options and general quality-of-life improvements. Here\u2019s what\u2019s new.<\/p>\n SmartGym keeps getting more complete and customizable<\/p>\n Last month, SmartGym rolled out<\/a> a significant update that introduced Strava sync, more customizable sharing options, among other features.<\/p>\n Today, the app released an even bigger update, with several customization improvements that make it even more powerful for users looking for a fully flexible, customizable workout companion app.<\/p>\n With today\u2019s update, the app\u2019s AI-powered Smart Trainer will start suggesting warm-up and cool-down stretch recommendations, \u201cautomatically tailored to the exact muscles your routine targets.\u201d<\/p>\n Users can set the duration of each segment, and choose whether warm-ups and cool-downs will count toward their workouts and muscle recovery analysis.<\/p>\n And speaking of SmartGym\u2019s Smart Trainer, users can set it to never automatically replace workout routines with new ones. However, SmartGym<\/a> suggests users \u201cconsider occasional full updates\u201d to avoid hitting a progress plateau.<\/p>\n Back to workout routines, the app now lets users organize their exercise sets into Warm Up, Main, and Cool Down.<\/p>\n This makes it easier to add or remove segments independently, which is ideal for long workouts with multiple exercises. SmartGym<\/a> now also offers a draft feature, which automatically saves unfinished routines so users can pick them up later.<\/p>\n Another welcome addition in today\u2019s update is Workout Effort. It lets users set the training load on their workouts, \u201cso your sessions contribute to your overall load and recovery picture.\u201d<\/p>\n Today\u2019s update also brings a refreshed Routine View, which SmartGym<\/a> says is the most used screen of the app:<\/p>\n \u201cEverything has been refined, layout, typography, animations, and alerts, so your workout feels more focused and more beautiful from the first tap to the last set.\u201d<\/p>\n Finally, for users who have the same exercise across multiple routines, SmartGym<\/a> now lets users update the exercise in a single routine, or in all of them.<\/p>\n 9to5Mac\u2019s take<\/p>\n I have been using SmartGym<\/a> every other day for the past 3 or 4 years, and can\u2019t recommend it enough. It is flexible, works perfectly on the Apple Watch and iPhone (and is also available for iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro), and is just beautifully designed.<\/p>\n SmartGym<\/a> has a seemingly endless list of exercises, and its effort to make every aspect of the app fully customizable has always been a huge plus for my workout routines.<\/p>\n If you exercise at all, either at the gym or at home, consider giving SmartGym a chance.
