{"id":547508,"date":"2026-03-19T20:46:11","date_gmt":"2026-03-19T20:46:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/547508\/"},"modified":"2026-03-19T20:46:11","modified_gmt":"2026-03-19T20:46:11","slug":"zach-galifianakis-new-netflix-show-filmed-in-b-c-highlights-vancouver-island","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/547508\/","title":{"rendered":"Zach Galifianakis\u2019 new Netflix show filmed in B.C., highlights Vancouver Island"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new Netflix show starring actor and comedian Zach Galifianakis is premiering next month, and showcases several locations in British Columbia, including Vancouver Island and the Southern Gulf Islands.<\/p>\n<p>The show, called This is a Gardening Show, is described as a \u201crefreshing and whimsical take on gardening\u201d with Galifianakis both learning and teaching about how to garden and grow food.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe way we get food is so perverse right now, I think we should talk about it,\u201d says Galifianakis in the trailer. \u201cAnd what we\u2019re leaving for the next generation, they might have to know this stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not all serious though, just a breath later Galifianakis asks, in his signature deadpan delivery, \u201cWithout sounding stupid, what is a tomato?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The trailer shows clips from Vancouver Island\u2019s Mount Washington and Brooklyn Elementary School in Comox.<\/p>\n<p>Galifianakis also has a home on Denman Island and is known to spend time in the area.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>This is a Gardening Show releases on Netflix on April 22.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe series blends lighthearted comedy with a sincere appreciation for humans and nature,\u201d reads the Netflix description. \u201cUltimately, This Is a Gardening Show is about the joy of connecting with the earth and people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Viewers may also recognize Galifianakis from movies like The Hangover or his talk show, Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis.<\/p>\n<p>Netflix is no stranger to filming in British Columbia, sometimes dubbed \u201cHollywood North,\u201d including on Vancouver Island.<\/p>\n<p>Productions like TV series Maid and movie Rescued by Ruby <a href=\"https:\/\/cheknews.ca\/chek-upside-netflix-show-still-giving-back-to-victoria-after-filming-ends-900160\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">spent most of their time in Greater Victoria<\/a>.
