This Canary channel is \u201cspecifically designed for developers who want to explore and test the newest Android APIs,\u201d and \u201cunsuitable for everyday use.\u201d <\/p>\n Google notes how \u201cfeatures introduced in Canary may not always make it into a stable Android release.\u201d That said, several have found their way into the latest Android Beta. You install it using the Android Flash Tool<\/a>, with future updates coming as convenient on-device OTAs.<\/p>\n \tAdvertisement – scroll for more content<\/p>\n New updates will appear at the top of this page.<\/p>\n Updating\u2026<\/p>\n Screen record redesign<\/p>\n After tapping the Quick Setting Tile, you get a new floating pill to \u201cStart\u201d or make changes, like Entire screen or Single app. Options include:<\/p>\n Entire screen: Record device audio, Record microphone, Show touches<\/p>\n Single app: App to record, Record device audio, Record microphone<\/p>\n After the recording is initiated, you can tap the status bar indicator to bring the floating UI and make changes by tapping the settings gear or \u201cStop.\u201d Upon ending, you\u2019re taken to a new interface that lets you preview the clip, \u201cEdit,\u201d \u201cDelete,\u201d or \u201cShare.\u201d Tapping \u201cNew\u201d brings you back to the tool.<\/p>\n \t\t More blur in system UI, like Widgets pane<\/p>\n Android 17 Beta 2 vs. Canary 2603<\/p>\n \t\t Separate Wi-Fi & Mobile data\u00a0QS toggles<\/p>\n Android once again has separate Quick Settings Tiles for Wi-Fi and Mobile data. If you have the current Internet Tile set, that will become Wi-Fi and you can manually add Mobile data.<\/p>\n \t\t App lock & Bubbles<\/p>\n Long-pressing on an app will reveal the new App lock and Bubble options, with the latter officially announced last month as part of Android 17 Beta 2. It\u2019s fully active as of today\u2019s Canary.\u00a0<\/p>\n As part of those two additions, Google has redesigned the menu that appears when you long-press on an app. If an application has 2-4 app shortcuts, they will be hidden inside a new \u201cShortcuts\u201d menu.
