Taylor Frankie Paul\u2019s<\/a> season of The Bachelorette, which was slated to premiere on Sunday, will not be moving forward.<\/p>\n

ABC has decided to pull Season 22 after a video surfaced on Thursday, released by TMZ<\/a>, allegedly showing a 2023 domestic violence incident involving Paul and her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn light of the newly released video just surfaced today, we have made the decision to not move forward with the new season of The Bachelorette at this time, and our focus is on supporting the family,\u201d Disney Entertainment Television said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Disney\u2019s statement didn\u2019t include details on what the network planned to do with the show\u2019s time slot.<\/p>\n

Following the news of the season cancellation on Thursday afternoon, Paul said in a statement from her spokesperson: \u201cTaylor is very grateful for ABC\u2019s support as she prioritizes her family\u2019s safety and security. After years of silently suffering extensive mental and physical abuse as well as threats of retaliation, Taylor is finally gaining the strength to face her accuser and taking steps to ensure that she and her children are protected from any further harm.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are too many women who are suffering in silence as they survive aggressive, jealous ex-partners who refuse to let them move on with their lives. Taylor has remained silent out of fear of further abuse, retaliation and public shaming. She is currently exploring all of her options, seeking support, and preparing to own and share her story.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the video was released, a spokesperson for The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives\u00a0star said in an earlier statement that it\u2019s \u201csad to see the latest installment\u201d of Mortensen\u2019s \u201cnever-ending, desperate, attention-seeking, destructive campaign to harm Taylor without any regard for the consequences for their child.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cReleasing an old video, which conveniently omits context, on their son\u2019s birthday is a reprehensible attempt to distract from his own behavior. Thankfully, the public has seen this act before and knows who he is and sadly, many will recognize this pattern of manipulation, both in his actions on the show, and from their own experiences,\u201d her rep added.<\/p>\n

Paul was previously arrested for domestic violence in 2023. Footage of the alleged 2023 incident between Paul and Mortensen was leaked to TMZ on Thursday, where she can be seen kicking and hitting her ex-boyfriend and throwing chairs at him.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour daughter is right here,\u201d Mortensen says before Paul throws a chair in his direction.<\/p>\n

Paul faced misdemeanour charges of assault, criminal mischief and commission of domestic violence in the presence of a child after she was accused of throwing a chair at Mortensen that reportedly hit her daughter.<\/p>\n

The 31-year-old reality star pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in August 2023, while the other charges were dismissed, according to ABC4 Utah<\/a>.<\/p>\n

During an interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast<\/a>, Paul told host Alex Cooper that the charges stemming from her 2023 arrest \u201cwere all dropped.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI never had hurt my daughter. I never intentionally did anything with my children,\u201d Paul added.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter the arrest, I was under so much stress. I was filmed leaving the jail and then that was immediately on the internet,\u201d she said. \u201cIt was a blessing in disguise. It helped me wake up.\u201d<\/p>\n

The network\u2019s decision to pull Paul\u2019s upcoming season comes after recent reports of another alleged domestic violence incident<\/a> between Paul and Mortensen.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the Draper City Police Department confirmed to People<\/a> and local affiliate ABC4 Utah<\/a> that there is an open \u201cdomestic assault investigation\u201d regarding Paul and Mortensen, 33.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson confirmed that \u201callegations have been made in both directions\u201d and \u201ccontact was made with involved parties on [Feb.] 24th and 25th,\u201d People reports.<\/p>\n

In responses to other outlets, the police department has not revealed any details about the case, citing \u201cprivacy\u201d and its \u201cactive investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n

After news of the investigation spread, Paul told People on Tuesday<\/a> that her \u201cheart hurts to see it, to go through it, especially at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cJust the timing is hard, and it\u2019s a big deal. I feel like every premiere that I\u2019ve experienced, I\u2019ve never enjoyed fully, so this is another one\u2026. It\u2019s extremely hard, and it took everything to get me here today,\u201d she said of the investigation and the since-cancelled premiere of The Bachelorette.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s just heavy. It\u2019s a heavy time, and it\u2019s unfortunate,\u201d the influencer continued. \u201cI\u2019m struggling for sure, but also at the same time I feel like if I don\u2019t show up, then I\u2019m just giving these opportunities away and not enjoying what we\u2019ve worked on and something super exciting that\u2019s coming.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also told the Hollywood Reporter<\/a> that it\u2019s been \u201creally difficult and heavy given, you know, all the headlines and what\u2019s going on.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I would say I am handling it like any normal human would, like struggling, but trying to show up at the same time,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Mortensen\u2019s representative addressed the reports of the domestic assault investigation in a statement to Entertainment Weekly<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis number one priority here is protecting Ever,\u201d his rep said on Wednesday. \u201cHe knew there was a possibility it could come out, but he was not going to be the one to proactively do that because he has always wanted a decent relationship with Taylor.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been really hard to achieve that, but he wants to co-parent well,\u201d his rep added.<\/p>\n

Mortensen\u2019s rep also denied that he was the reason the situation became public and said he was hoping the drama would de-escalate.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was just hoping that if he says nothing, as he usually does, it would go away. He\u2019s never done any kind of sit-down interview about his side,\u201d the rep continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe kind of just lets it all happen to him, and I think he realizes with the severity of everything now that he just can\u2019t do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Production on Season 5 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives has also been halted following the investigation into the allegations involving Paul and Mortensen.<\/p>\n

During her appearance on\u00a0Good Morning America on Wednesday, Paul said she doesn\u2019t \u201ccall the shots with production.\u201d<\/p>\n

Paul, an executive producer on the reality series, did say that she has \u201cgotten word that there\u2019s a pause\u201d in filming but she doesn\u2019t know for how long.<\/p>\n

Hulu has not publicly commented on the domestic violence investigation as of this writing.<\/p>\n
