OTTAWA \u2014 Brady Tkachuk<\/a> put away the winner with 11.1 seconds left to play to lead the Ottawa Senators<\/a> past the New York Islanders<\/a> 3-2 on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Tkachuk grabbed a loose puck in the crease and squeezed it past Ilya Sorokin<\/a> as Ottawa rallied from a 1-0 and then a 2-1 deficit.<\/p>\n

Shane Pinto<\/a> had a short-handed goal to tie the game 1-1 for the Senators (35-24-9) in the second period and then Warren Foegele<\/a> backhanded the puck past Sorokin 5:12 into the third period to tie it 2-2.<\/p>\n

Rookie sensation Matthew Schaefer<\/a> opened the scoring for the Islanders (39-25-5) early in the second period and Brayden Schenn<\/a> beat Ottawa goalie James Reimer<\/a> five-hole to tie it 1-1 2:02 into the third period.<\/p>\n

Reimer made 19 saves to earn the win in net for the Senators.<\/p>\n

Sorokin stopped 23 shots for New York.<\/p>\n

The Islanders got on the board early.<\/p>\n

Bo Horvat<\/a> won the faceoff and Ryan Pulock<\/a> passed it across to Schaefer who stepped into the circle and wired a shot past Reimer for his 50th point of the season.<\/p>\n

Midway through the first, shorthanded, Pinto took a Tyler Kleven<\/a> pass at centre and broke in and wristed a shot past Sorokin.<\/p>\n

A scoreless first provided plenty of action.<\/p>\n

Tkachuk and Anders Lee<\/a> dropped the gloves on the opening faceoff in a fight between captains. Five minutes later, Ottawa\u2019s Ridly Greig<\/a> and Schenn also exchanged punches.<\/p>\n

Reimer made a left pad save on what looked like a sure-goal for Casey Cizikas<\/a>, while Sorokin made a great save on Tkachuk. The best save of the period wasn\u2019t actually made by a goaltender.<\/p>\n
