The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) has issued a warning to the public about a violent offender who has been released back into the community less than a month after a brazen escape attempt.<\/p>\n

According to the VPD, Jordan McIntosh was previously released into the community last September to serve a conditional sentence order related to two counts of assault and one count of breach of a release order from an incident in 2024.<\/p>\n

McIntosh\u2019s release had several conditions, including that he wear an ankle monitor. However, he cut off the device and went on the run in early December.<\/p>\n

\u201cInvestigators with the VPD\u2019s Intimate Partner Violence and Risk Assessment Unit became involved due to McIntosh\u2019s history of violence against women,\u201d added the VPD.<\/p>\n

On March 2, VPD<\/a> detectives and District 5 officers tracked the violent offender in a hotel in Gastown on Water Street.<\/p>\n

\u201cMcIntosh tried to escape by jumping out of a window,\u201d explained VPD Sergeant Adam Donaldson in a release.<\/p>\n

\u201cFortunately, our officers planned for that scenario, and he was taken into custody with the help of a police dog.\u201d<\/p>\n

McIntosh has 49 criminal convictions dating back to 2004, including 11 for violence or weapons. Many of them involve violence toward women and possession of firearms.<\/p>\n

\u201cWomen in this community are safer now that this offender has been arrested,\u201d added Donaldson at the time of the arrest.<\/p>\n

VPD added that McIntosh was held in custody for a breach of a conditional sentence order hearing that took place on Wednesday, March 18.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe court ultimately decided to release him back into the community to serve his sentence with another ankle monitor, rather than keep him in custody,\u201d said the police department.<\/p>\n

It has been a busy time for police across Metro Vancouver.<\/p>\n

In a public advisory released earlier this month, the New Westminster Police Department (NWPD) urged residents to be on the alert.<\/p>\n

This comes after glue markings were found on apartment doors in a multi-family building located on the 200 block of 11th Street.<\/p>\n

And a man has been charged in connection with a string of stranger assaults against women<\/a> in Vancouver, according to information shared by\u00a0the VPD.<\/p>\n

Vancouver police have released a photo of the suspect and are hoping anyone with more information comes forward.<\/p>\n

An investigation began on Jan. 29, 2025, when a woman was assaulted by a man she didn\u2019t know.
