Alberta\u2019s police watchdog \u2014 the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) \u2014 is investigating an officer-involved shooting on March 10.<\/p>\n
ASIRT says around 1:30 p.m. on Mar. 10, Mounties responded to a report of a stabbing at a home in St. Paul \u2014 around 180 km east of Edmonton.<\/p>\n
When officers arrived, they found a woman suffering from injuries consistent with a stabbing and began providing first aid.<\/p>\n
While searching the home, officers were reportedly able to find a man in the bedroom who was armed with a knife. Mounties reportedly tried to give the man directions to drop the knife; however, the man reportedly moved towards the officers, at which point one of the officers fired his gun.<\/p>\n
Following this, the man reportedly fell, but continued holding the knife and continued not following commands, at which point officers used a conducted energy weapon, disarming the man and taking him into custody.<\/p>\n
The man was taken to hospital in Edmonton by paramedics, while the woman was taken to a local hospital by another paramedic crew.<\/p>\n
