Kraft Heinz Canada is investing $250 million to modernize its Montreal-based manufacturing plant, as the company looks to ramp up production of its staple food products in the region.<\/p>\n
At a press conference Friday at its Town-of-Mont-Royal plant, federal finance Minister Fran\u00e7ois-Philippe Champagne was joined by MP Anthony Housefather and Kraft Heinz Canada president Simon Laroche for the announcement.<\/p>\n
\u201cRight now, Canadians want to buy Canadian, they want to support local workers and support local production, that\u2019s why we are here today and thats why it\u2019s so important to see companies continue to support things here at home, and today\u2019s a great example,\u201d said Champagne.<\/p>\n
The $250 million funding is expected to modernize production lines and boost capacity, reducing reliance on imports.<\/p>\n
