{"id":550252,"date":"2026-03-21T02:07:44","date_gmt":"2026-03-21T02:07:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/550252\/"},"modified":"2026-03-21T02:07:44","modified_gmt":"2026-03-21T02:07:44","slug":"second-arrest-made-in-connection-with-ontario-shopping-plaza-murders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/550252\/","title":{"rendered":"Second arrest made in connection with Ontario shopping plaza murders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Isaiah Thomas Badger has been arrested.<\/p>\n<p>A person accused of the shooting deaths of two Ontario men has been captured by police.<\/p>\n<p>Nineteen-year-old Isaiah Thomas Badger was arrested in Calgary after weeks on the run.<\/p>\n<p>A Canada-wide warrant was issued for Badger following shootings that took place weeks apart earlier this year at plazas located in Vaughan and Etobicoke.<\/p>\n<p>He now faces two charges of first-degree murder.<\/p>\n<p>On Jan. 26, Sergio Lopes, 65, of Richmond Hill, was gunned down in Vaughan at a plaza near Rowntree Dairy Road and Winges Road in Vaughan.<\/p>\n<p>Then, on Feb. 7, Chandan Kumar Raja Nandakumar, 37, of Brampton, was shot and killed in the parking lot of Woodbine Mall, at Rexdale Boulevard and Highway 27.<\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"vidyard-player-embed\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/1774025958_440_awZCW3rPmWvxPqZHnBCKLu.jpg\" data-videoid=\"790139\" data-uuid=\"awZCW3rPmWvxPqZHnBCKLu\" data-v=\"4\" data-type=\"inline\" data-muted=\"1\" style=\"width:100%\"\/>    <\/p>\n<p>        <img width=\"1024\" height=\"513\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Screenshot-2026-01-30-at-1.55.02-PM-1024x513.png\" class=\"attachment-large size-large\" alt=\"\"  decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>      <\/p>\n<p>Police in both York Region and Toronto say in both cases the victim was targeted, but a link between the two killings and motive have not been established.<\/p>\n<p>A second person linked to the shootings, Jacob Wallace, 19, was arrested in the remote northern Ontario town of Moosonee on March 5.
