BC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The woman who was arrested last October for reportedly giving three babies \u201cskin-to-skin\u201d contact in Surrey\u2019s Memorial Hospital was granted $500 bail on Monday.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/70c8fc80.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"position:absolute;width:1px;height:1px\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The 35-year-old secured her release on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Lindsey Susan Hirtreiter is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/11550567\/bc-woman-assault-charge-prior-convinction-animal-cruelty\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">facing three counts of assault<\/a> following the incident on Oct. 28, 2025, in which she allegedly removed her shirt and held three infants, giving them skin-to-skin contact.<\/p>\n<p>As part of her bail conditions, she was ordered to stay away from the victims and all NICUs in B.C. and to live at Glory House in Mission, which is an addiction recovery house.<\/p>\n<p>Global News knocked on the door of the facility on Friday, which is run by Hope for Freedom Society, and was told Hirtreiter was not there, but they didn\u2019t know where she was.<\/p>\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<p>It turns out that Hirtreiter was arrested again on Friday, according to the BC Prosecution Service.<\/p>\n<p>She was arrested under Section 512.3 of the Criminal Code, under which a justice may issue a warrant if there are reasonable grounds to believe that an accused has contravened or is about to contravene a release order.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"170\" height=\"225\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1767930311_275_national.jpg\" alt=\"Get daily Canada news delivered to your inbox so you'll never miss the day's top stories.\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tGet daily National news<\/p>\n<p>Get daily Canada news delivered to your inbox so you&#8217;ll never miss the day&#8217;s top stories.<\/p>\n<p>Hirtreiter is now scheduled to appear in court on March 23.<\/p>\n<p>However, questions remain about the response time from police on Oct. 28 when she allegedly slipped into the NICU at 6:55 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Hirtreiter was eventually escorted off hospital property by security, Surrey Police Service confirmed, but she was not arrested until a month later.<\/p>\n<p>Surrey police confirmed they did receive a call from security at 9:15 a.m. on Oct. 28, but did not attend until 1 p.m. that day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe was not detained awaiting police, as can often be the case when security interacts with a possible offender,\u201d Surrey police said in a statement to Global News.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInstances where a subject\/suspect is no longer on scene, will generally change the priority of the response (dependent on other factors such as potential injury to the victim, etc.).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As a result, the file was downgraded and an officer responded after other higher-priority calls were attended to, police said.<\/p>\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<p>They said they have reviewed the incident and instituted a process to better assess the nature of reported incidents involving security at Surrey Memorial Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\tMore on Crime<br \/>\n\t\t\tMore videos\n\t\t<\/p>\n<p>Fraser Health did not provide any clarity on Friday on what happened between 6:55 a.m. and 9:15 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"c-video__image\" alt=\"Click to play video: 'NICU incident raises more questions about security at Surrey Memorial Hospital'\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/web_6P_SURREY_MEMORIAL_SECU_OM01MDLG.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\"   data-\/><\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t1:54<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tNICU incident raises more questions about security at Surrey Memorial Hospital\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>In November 2016, Hirtreiter was sentenced to two years probation for causing an animal to continue to be in distress in connection with a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/1839226\/ryder-black-lab-who-suffered-horrific-animal-abuse-recovering-slowly\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">brutal attack on a black Labrador on Valentine\u2019s Day 2015 in Surrey.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Surrey RCMP said that Ryder had been stabbed with scissors in the face and eye and beaten with a blunt object.
