On Saturday, Police noted that they were responding to multiple collisions along Highway 1 west of Calgary, as deteriorating road conditions continue to affect drivers in the area.<\/p>\n
Canmore RCMP said Saturday they are attending \u201cnumerous collisions\u201d near Lac des Arcs, with most incidents involving vehicles leaving the roadway and entering ditches.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Police reported no injuries as of Saturday.<\/p>\n
Motorists are being advised to avoid travel if possible and to check Alberta 511 for updated highway conditions.<\/p>\n
Provincial road data shows a contrast in driving conditions across the region.<\/p>\n
Alberta 511 reports Highway 2 from Calgary city limits to north of the junction with Highway 2A is bare and dry, with good visibility.<\/p>\n
Conditions shift further north and west.<\/p>\n
On Highway 2A between Township Road 292 and Highway 582, the roadway is partly covered with snow, with secondary conditions including shoulder ice and snow, icy sections, and active snowfall. Visibility remains listed as good.<\/p>\n
Environment Canada forecasts snow ending early Saturday afternoon, followed by a mix of sun and cloud and a 30 per cent chance of flurries. Local snowfall amounts are estimated at two to four centimetres, with a daytime high of 4 C.<\/p>\n
Flurries remain possible into the evening, with a low of \u20138 C and a wind chill near \u201311 overnight.<\/p>\n
Weather conditions are expected to remain variable into Sunday, with a mix of sun and cloud and a continued chance of precipitation.<\/p>\n
