It just came over me like a tidal wave. It felt like an out-of-body experience,&#8221; she says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The professional violinist and mother-of-three is one of millions of people who live with anxiety so acute it can impede their ability to function.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Last year, almost 250,000 patients in England were referred for counselling, up from 190,000 four years earlier, for generalised anxiety disorder \u2013 a mental health condition that <a href=\"https:\/\/digital.nhs.uk\/data-and-information\/publications\/statistical\/adult-psychiatric-morbidity-survey\/survey-of-mental-health-and-wellbeing-england-2023-24\/common-mental-health-conditions#overview\" class=\"ssrcss-1e0jzsh-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">affects 7.5% of adults in England, external<\/a>, causing fear, a constant feeling of being overwhelmed and excessive worry about everyday things.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Judd says her anxiety dates back to early childhood, growing up with three brothers in a musical family in Harpenden, Hertfordshire.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;I dreaded bedtime because I didn&#8217;t want to be alone in my bedroom.
