Environmental education charity Natural Habitat has got a new brand identity courtesy of WMH&I.<\/p>\n

Natural Habitat was having problems communicating its core purpose, which was impacting engagement as well as fundraising.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Inspired by a quote from Sir David Attenborough, “No one will protect what they don’t care about, and no one will care about what they’ve never experienced”, the new brand celebrates the close connection between humans and the land.<\/p>\n

The new logo expresses this by blending an intimate part of human identity, the fingerprint, with land contours as seen on a map. Each Natural Habitat location has its own unique version of the logo, which is influenced by local topography. By combining the human and the land in this way, the logo connects beautifully back to the brand’s new core purpose ‘Bringing Land and People Together’. Will it be enough to make it into our best rebrands<\/a> list? Only time will tell.<\/p>\n

It’s not just about pretty pictures either, the branding is designed to do good. Branded elements double up as the likes of bee hotels, habitats for wildlife, learning trails and tools that encourage collective action.<\/p>\n

Also inspired by topography is the flexible grid system, which creates structure for storytelling across the physical and the digital.<\/p>\n

The typeface is Bricolage, which was chosen for its warmth and accessibility, while the colour palette draws on hues found in the changing seasons of the natural world: fresh spring greens, vibrant summer blooms, earthy autumn rusts and crisp winter tones. This helps the identity stand out from the often quite muted tones in this sector.<\/p>\n
