Alex Freeland did not.<\/p>\n<p>Who do you think made the Dodgers&#8217; Opening Day roster?<\/p>\n<p>Well, believe it or not, it wasn&#8217;t Kim.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Kim hit .407 this spring.<\/p>\n<p>Freeland hit .116.<\/p>\n<p>The Dodgers kept Freeland on the MLB roster.<\/p>\n<p>Kim is being sent down to Triple-A Oklahoma City.<\/p>\n<p>There were certainly plenty of Dodgers fans who weren&#8217;t happy with the move. Manager Dave Roberts tried to explain it.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Dave Roberts said the &#8216;driver&#8217; behind the Alex Freeland\/Hyeseong Kim decision was that the Dodgers felt Kim would benefit more from getting everyday at-bats in AAA right now,&#8221; wrote the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ByJackHarris\/status\/2035860707812712604\" rel=\"nofollow\">California Post&#8217;s Jack Harris on X<\/a> on Sunday. &#8220;He said team was &#8216;not blind to the fact&#8217; Freeland only hit .116 this spring.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>MORE:\u00a0<a target=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/ca\/mlb\/boston-red-sox\/news\/red-sox-legend-david-ortiz-son-makes-special-memory-boston-spring-training\/ea064e662ad45b15166d00b0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Big Papi&#8217;s son has a special moment for the Red Sox<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The thing maybe most notable about this is that not only is Freeland on the roster. He&#8217;s going to get the starting role against right-handed pitching, with the righty-hitting Miguel Rojas on the short side of a platoon.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s the same role Kim would&#8217;ve had in the major leagues, and it seems hard to justify keeping the .116 spring hitter over the .407 spring hitter when neither has some immense advantage in experience.<\/p>\n<p>Dodgers fans will wait and hope their team did the right thing.
