According to Fightful Select, the fine Tonga received from WWE reached a significant level: “We’re told that the Tama Tonga fine from WWE was in the five figure territory.”

The fine stems from Tonga posting behind-the-scenes rehearsal footage online — something WWE has long treated as strictly off-limits due to the risk of exposing match structure, timing, and production elements before a show airs. Earlier reports from Andrew Zarian had already hinted that the punishment was substantial, with word backstage suggesting WWE didn’t take the situation lightly.

“Word going around at SmackDown is that Tama Tonga was fined by WWE for posting a video of rehearsals last week. Was told it was significant of a fine.”

Now, with the five-figure detail confirmed, it’s clear that description wasn’t an exaggeration. Tonga also addressed the situation publicly — in his own way. Instead of issuing a detailed statement, he took to social media and posted a neutral-face emoji, a subtle response that still acknowledged the situation without adding fuel to it.

WWE’s stance on rehearsal footage has always been strict. While talent are encouraged to share travel clips, locker room moments, and general behind-the-scenes content, rehearsals remain one of the most protected parts of the process, as they can reveal how matches are structured and produced.

So in the end, Tonga didn’t just get fined, he got hit with a five-figure penalty that sends a clear message about crossing that line. And with the amount now confirmed, this situation has gone from speculation to a very real and costly consequence.

Do you think WWE was right to issue a five-figure fine for this, or does that feel excessive for posting rehearsal footage?
