It\u2019s Worse Than You May Think."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Economist Henrietta Treyz warned this weekend not to expect prices \u2014 which have already been driven up by President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/news\/topic\/donald-trump\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s Iran war \u2014 to fall anytime soon.<\/p>\n<p>Even if the Strait of Hormuz, the vital channel off Iran\u2019s coast through which roughly one-fifth of the world\u2019s oil passes, fully reopened tomorrow, it would still take about 200 days for prices to return to normal, she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/media\/tv\/economist-tells-ms-now-americans-will-pay-the-price-for-the-iran-war-for-literally-years-to-come\/\" target=\"_blank\" role=\"link\" class=\" js-entry-link cet-external-link\" data-vars-item-name=\"said on MS NOW\" data-vars-item-type=\"text\" data-vars-unit-name=\"69c0e165e4b03dbe678a0249\" data-vars-unit-type=\"buzz_body\" data-vars-target-content-id=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/media\/tv\/economist-tells-ms-now-americans-will-pay-the-price-for-the-iran-war-for-literally-years-to-come\/\" data-vars-target-content-type=\"url\" data-vars-type=\"web_external_link\" data-vars-subunit-name=\"article_body\" data-vars-subunit-type=\"component\" data-vars-position-in-subunit=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">said on MS NOW<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But that scenario of the strait reopening so soon is unlikely, the <a href=\"https:\/\/veda-partners.com\/about-us\" target=\"_blank\" role=\"link\" class=\" js-entry-link cet-external-link\" data-vars-item-name=\"Veda Partners\" data-vars-item-type=\"text\" data-vars-unit-name=\"69c0e165e4b03dbe678a0249\" data-vars-unit-type=\"buzz_body\" data-vars-target-content-id=\"https:\/\/veda-partners.com\/about-us\" data-vars-target-content-type=\"url\" data-vars-type=\"web_external_link\" data-vars-subunit-name=\"article_body\" data-vars-subunit-type=\"component\" data-vars-position-in-subunit=\"1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Veda Partners<\/a> co-founder and director of economic policy told anchor Erielle Reshef.<\/p>\n<p>It means higher prices are here to stay, she said, with soaring crude oil costs rippling across the economy to drive up prices in multiple sectors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, if you\u2019re trying to buy an airline flight, if you\u2019re trying to do anything, the costs of this war are going to trickle down across the entire economy and it\u2019s going to cascade for literally years to come,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>She later warned consumers should brace for \u201chigher interest rates, higher gas prices, higher food prices, jet prices, semiconductor prices.
