On Monday, the Philadelphia Phillies<\/a> lost to the Tampa Bay Rays<\/a> by a score of 7-0 in their last spring training game.<\/p>\n

They will now head home to get ready for their Opening Day showdown with the Texas Rangers<\/a> on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Phillies Place MLB Veteran On Trading Block Ahead Of Season\"\"<\/p>\n

Recently, Marcus Hayes of The Philadelphia Inquirer<\/a> (h\/t MLB Rumors<\/a>), reported that Garrett Stubbs is on the trading block.<\/p>\n

Ty Daubert of Phillies Nation wrote (on March 22):<\/a> \u201cRafael March\u00e1n<\/a> has made the team, Dave Dombrowski said.<\/p>\n

Phillies will look around for a trade for Garrett Stubbs. If nothing materializes by Wednesday, they\u2019ll DFA him\u201d<\/p>\n

Stubbs is coming off a season where he only appeared in five games.<\/p>\n

The 32-year-old has spent the past four years in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

Matt Gelb of The Athletic wrote (on November 21):<\/a> \u201cPhillies have agreed to a split contract with catcher Garrett Stubbs ahead of today\u2019s 5 p.m. tender deadline. He\u2019ll make $925k in majors and $575k in minors, per source. Stubbs is out of minor-league options, but Phillies chose to retain some catching depth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stubbs\u2019 MLB Career\"\"<\/p>\n

Stubbs was picked in the eighth round of the 2015 MLB<\/a> Draft.<\/p>\n

Over seven seasons, he has also spent time with the Houston Astros<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He is batting .215 with seven home runs, 45 RBI\u2019s and 65 runs in 197 games.<\/p>\n

@TheDeeVoShow of The Red Corner wrote (on March 21):<\/a> \u201cI would have given Garrett Stubbs the backup job this year. Truly would have. Solely based on athleticism and clubhouse presence. Understand Marchan is the better defender. Not enough.\u201d<\/p>\n
