Metro Vancouver drivers spoke with 1130 News Radio about how they save money amid high gas prices.<\/p>\nSome drivers have chosen not to fill their tanks full, while others are considering changing to an electric vehicle (EV).<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ll probably just be putting in $20, which I will continue to do until the price is lower,\u201d said Tam.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m a contractor\u2026.I use my truck for work every day, basically. The people that I work on site with, we already do try to do [car sharing] or, on occasion, we will use Evos if I don\u2019t have to go and pick up a bunch of equipment \u2014 but that also gets costly as well.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Julio, who owns a company and has to fill company cars with gas, says he\u2019s struggling.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s getting insane at this point,\u201d says Julio.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have to adapt to this economy right now. We [are] starting to change to electric [vehicles] because I think it\u2019s going to be a more [viable] solution.\u201d<\/p>\n
However, some drivers cannot afford to make the switch to an EV and have decided to make cuts to their grocery or vacation spending instead.<\/p>\n
Uber driver Gagan says he made the switch to an EV in 2024, and he\u2019s happy about the move away from gas vehicles.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s more convenient,\u201d says Gagan. \u201cSome of my friends have regular [gas] cars\u2026.they are not doing the longer trips.\u201d<\/p>\n
Drivers would be hard-pressed to find gas cheaper than $2 per litre in Metro Vancouver at the moment.<\/p>\n
