(Deirdra Danovitch, CityNews) <\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor passengers in Greater Montreal, the opening of this terminal at the MET will provide more travel options and allow airlines to benefit from increased airport capacity in the region,\u201d said Yanic Roy, President and CEO of MET, Montr\u00e9al Metropolitan Airport.<\/p>\n<p>The airport aims to position itself as a hub for direct flights operated exclusively with quieter, more fuel-efficient single-aisle aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>An express shuttle, known as the METbus, will link the Longueuil\u2013Universit\u00e9-de-Sherbrooke m\u00e9tro station to the airport\u2019s drop-off area, which will feature three lanes.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/New-terminal-at-Montreal-Metropolitan-Airport-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-474291\"  \/>Lounge at new terminal at Montr\u00e9al Metropolitan Airport in Longueuil on March 23, 2026. (Deirdra Danovitch, CityNews)<\/p>\n<p>Spanning 21,000 square metres, the new terminal includes nine boarding gates and a spacious lounge with seating for up to 900 passengers.<\/p>\n<p>Construction began in August 2023. The terminal was originally expected to open in 2024, but the launch date was postponed several times.<\/p>\n<p>Opened in 1927, Saint-Hubert Airport, now known as MET, Montr\u00e9al Metropolitan Airport, is Canada\u2019s oldest airport and once served as the city\u2019s primary aviation hub.
