BC Ferries cancelled two sailings between Vancouver and Victoria on Tuesday morning, and say more are at risk of cancellation, due to a mechanical issue with one of its vessels.<\/p>\n
Just before 8:15 a.m., BC Ferries said its 8 a.m. departure from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay was delayed due to a mechanical issue. Then in an update just after 9 a.m., BC Ferries said that 8 a.m. sailing was cancelled outright, as was the 10 a.m. sailing departing from Swartz Bay.<\/p>\n
The 9 a.m. departure from Tsawwasseen to Swartz Bay is expected to sail as usual, however.<\/p>\n
BC Ferries says the two cancellations are due to an issue with the \u201cpitch control\u201d onboard the Queen of New Westminster vessel.<\/p>\n
Because of the issue onboard the 62-year-old vessel, BC Ferries says more sailings are at risk of cancellation on Tuesday. The sailings at risk of cancellation as of 9:15 a.m. are:<\/p>\n
Noon departing Tsawwassen<\/p>\n
2 p.m. departing Swartz Bay<\/p>\n
4 p.m. departing Tsawwassen<\/p>\n
6 p.m. departing Swartz Bay<\/p>\n
8 p.m. departing Tsawwassen<\/p>\n
10 p.m. departing Swartz Bay<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you have a booking on one of these cancelled sailings, you will hear from our Customer Service Centre who will let you know if we can fit you on an alternate sailing later today, or if your booking must be cancelled,\u201d said BC Ferries in its notice at 9:15 a.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the case of a cancellation, we will refund your fees and\/or fares.\u201d<\/p>\n

We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience you may experience,\u201d said BC Ferries.<\/p>\n Tuesday\u2019s cancellations come just one day after BC Ferries had to cancel sailings along the Tsawwassen \u2013 Swartz Bay route due to an issue with another vessel, the Spirit of Vancouver Island, which suffered a generator problem.<\/p>\n
