Panasonic has introduced the Lumix ZS300, also known as the TZ300 outside the U.S., as its latest travel-focused compact camera. The new model replaces the discontinued Panasonic Lumix ZS200 (TZ200)<\/a> and continues the company\u2019s push into premium point-and-shoot cameras with larger sensors.<\/p>\n

The ZS300 pairs a 20.1-megapixel 1-inch-type CMOS sensor with a 15x optical zoom lens, aiming to balance portability with versatility for everyday and travel photography.<\/p>\n

15x Zoom in a Pocket-Sized Body<\/p>\n

At the core of the ZS300 is a 24\u2013260mm equivalent lens with an aperture range of f\/3.3\u20136.4. The lens construction includes 13 elements in 11 groups and carries Leica branding, which Panasonic says reflects its optical design and image quality standards.<\/p>\n

This focal range covers everything from wide-angle landscapes to telephoto subjects, making the camera a flexible option for travel shooters who want a single, compact solution.<\/p>\n

The camera\u2019s 1-inch BSI CMOS sensor is designed to improve low-light performance and reduce noise, with Panasonic stating that it preserves detail in both highlights and shadows.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

No EVF, Touchscreen-Only Shooting<\/p>\n

One of the most notable changes is the removal of the electronic viewfinder. Unlike its predecessor, which included a 2.33-million-dot EVF, the ZS300 relies entirely on a 3.0-inch, 1.84-million-dot rear touchscreen for composing images.<\/p>\n

This follows a similar design decision seen in Panasonic\u2019s more recent compact model, the ZS99<\/a>, signaling a shift toward simplified, screen-based shooting.<\/p>\n

Video and Stabilization Features<\/p>\n

The ZS300 is positioned as a hybrid camera, offering 4K video recording at up to 30p and Full HD slow-motion capture at 120 frames per second. Panasonic also includes its 4K Photo mode, which allows users to extract still images from 30fps video sequences.<\/p>\n

For stabilization, the camera features POWER O.I.S. for stills and 5-axis HYBRID O.I.S.+ for video, which helps smooth footage when shooting handheld or on the move.<\/p>\n

Additional features include a macro mode capable of focusing as close as 3cm, a built-in flash, and 22 creative filter effects.<\/p>\n
