The official opening of the new MET \u2013 Montr\u00e9al Metropolitan Airport terminal \u2014is poised to redefine how travellers move in and out of Montreal.<\/p>\n

According to the press release, the new terminal developed by YHU Infrastructure Partners introduces commercial flights to MET for the first time, offering Greater Montr\u00e9al passengers a more accessible, efficient and user-friendly alternative to existing airports.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The official opening of the new terminal is June 15, 2026.<\/p>\n

At launch, Porter Airlines and Pascan Aviation will operate routes connecting destinations across Canada, with room for additional carriers to join in the future.<\/p>\n

Already common in major global cities, multi-airport systems are designed to ease congestion and expand travel options\u2014and Montr\u00e9al is now joining their ranks.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Positioned as a hub for quieter, more fuel-efficient single-aisle aircraft, MET aims to become a go-to airport for streamlined domestic travel.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Where is the Montr\u00e9al Metropolitan Airport terminal (MET)?<\/p>\n

The MET \u2013 Montreal Metropolitan Airport (formerly Saint-Hubert Airport) is located at 5700 Route de l’A\u00e9roport, Longueuil, QC J3Y 8Y9, Canada.<\/p>\n

Located just 15 kilometres from downtown, MET is designed for convenience. Travellers can access the terminal via a well-connected road network or the METbus express shuttle linking directly to the Longueuil\u2013Universit\u00e9-de-Sherbrooke metro station.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A 500-metre drop-off zone and three traffic lanes ensure smooth vehicle flow, making the airport easily accessible for more than three million residents across Montr\u00e9al, Mont\u00e9r\u00e9gie and the Eastern Townships.<\/p>\n

The terminal\u2019s sleek, light-filled design also pays tribute to Montr\u00e9al\u2019s aviation history, with subtle nods to the iconic 1930 arrival of the R-100 airship in Saint-Hubert.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As Canada\u2019s oldest airport, dating back to 1927, the site blends heritage with forward-thinking infrastructure.<\/p>\n

In keeping with its Qu\u00e9bec roots, the terminal\u2019s retail offering will feature 100% local brands, including a B\u00e2ton Rouge restaurant, a Caf\u00e9 D\u00e9p\u00f4t and a curated convenience and travel shop.<\/p>\n

Designed by Scott & Associates and built by PCL Construction in under three years, the project reflects strong regional support. A 2024 L\u00e9ger survey found that 77% of residents back the development, underscoring its significance as a new transportation hub for the region.<\/p>\n

With its strategic location, efficient design and growing roster of airlines, the new MET terminal is set to become a key player in Montr\u00e9al\u2019s evolving travel ecosystem\u2014and a compelling new option for travellers looking to fly smarter.<\/p>\n
