No other option is left for the Golden State Warriors except<\/a> to fight. Coach Steve Kerr and Co. now have a 34-38 record with 10 more games remaining in the season. After that, they will be going into the NBA Play-In Tournament with hopes of making it far in the postseason. With injuries of Stephen Curry and Moses Moody bogging them down, what’s the plan of the legendary basketball mind?<\/p>\n

Kerr wants Warriors to gain momentum despite Curry’s absence<\/p>\n

Notably, Curry has not played for the Warriors<\/a> since January 30 against the Detroit Pistons<\/a>. He has been experiencing\u00a0patella-femoral pain syndrome and bone bruising in the knee which meant that Coach Kerr had to field a plethora of guards to make up for his production. This worked out quite well in their 137-131 win over the Dallas Mavericks<\/a> but concerns about how they would fare in the NBA Play-In Tournament have surfaced.<\/p>\n

Coach Kerr outlined that the Warriors are going to do their best for a deep postseason run. He did have reservations about playing Curry in order to preserve him for more worthy battles, via Eddie Sefko of NBA.com.<\/a><\/p>\n

“We\u2019re squarely in the play-in tournament, no matter what we do. The bottom line is that if Steph is healthy, he\u2019s going to play. It\u2019s what we\u2019re here for. And the chance to get in the playoffs is a big deal for us. A big deal for Steph, at 38. We don\u2019t know how many more chances there are, so you go for it. But if there\u2019s any risk whatsoever in terms of how it would impact next year, then he won\u2019t play. It\u2019s pretty simple,” the Warriors head coach added.<\/p>\n

Without Curry, the Warriors have had a host of guards step up whether it’s through their playmaking, spacing, or shooting. Brandin Podziemski has taken over the starting role with De’Anthony Melton by his side. When they come to the bench, Coach Kerr plays Gui Santos, Gary Payton II, and LJ Cryer.<\/p>\n

Curry is likely not playing anytime soon if the Warriors see that they won’t make it past the NBA Play-In Tournament. So, it’s a great opportunity to let their young guards play. This squad will fight but it won’t be at the cost of their aging star player.<\/p>\n
