Bruce Springsteen will join the millions of Americans expected to protest President Donald Trump\u2019s immigration crackdown during Saturday\u2019s nationwide No Kings demonstrations<\/a> with a performance of his resistance ballad \u201cStreets of Minneapolis\u201d at the Minnesota Capitol in St. Paul.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Springsteen said he wrote the song \u201cin response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis\u201d after federal immigration enforcement officers<\/a> shot to death Renee Good<\/a> and Alex Pretti<\/a> in the city. The shootings in January occurred during the Trump administration\u2019s immigration<\/a> crackdown on the Democratic-run city.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The famed American rock musician has emerged as a vocal critic<\/a> of the administration\u2019s harsh immigration agenda<\/a>. He lent his iconic\u00a01984 hit \u201cBorn in the U.S.A.\u201d\u00a0to the American Civil Liberties Union\u2019s campaign to uphold birthright citizenship. The Supreme Court is slated to hear oral arguments next month in the class-action lawsuit Trump v. Barbara, which challenges the legality of the president\u2019s attempt to bypass the 14th Amendment\u2019s birthright citizenship guarantee.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The No Kings movement has mobilized millions of peaceful protesters in cities across the country since Trump returned to the White House last year. The purpose of the demonstrations is to push back on Trump\u2019s attempted expansion of executive power and his influence over the country\u2019s judiciary, according to the organizers.<\/p>\n
