Edmonton police say more than $100,000 worth of drugs were seized from a southeast Edmonton home following a drug trafficking investigation.

Officers first became aware in January of possible drug trafficking taking place at a residence in the area of Woodvale Road and 38 Avenue in the Woodvale neighbourhood, police said in a Wednesday news release.

Following a month-long investigation, police executed a search warrant at the home and seized several drugs and other items.

According to police, officers seized 301 grams of fentanyl with an approximate street value of $45,300, 979 grams of methamphetamine valued at about $58,800, and 8.5 grams of crack cocaine valued at approximately $720.

Investigators also seized 1.63 litres of GHB with an estimated street value of $1,630, more than 200 assorted pills — including Tylenol 3s, winstrol, primboloan and clenbuterol — and two vials of testosterone.

Police also recovered a 9 millimetre handgun and approximately $4,600 in cash.

Mitchele Ernest Zorget, 46, was arrested and is facing charges for possession for the purpose of trafficking as well as several firearms-related offences.

“Residences like these not only greatly impact the perception of safety in neighbourhoods, they often target the community’s most vulnerable,” said EPS Staff Sgt. Ahmed Alkarout. “As the EPS continues to work to curb drug use and disorder across the city, the hard work of our Northeast BEATs team will certainly have positive impacts on safety in the Woodvale neighbourhood.”
