{"id":560597,"date":"2026-03-25T21:44:08","date_gmt":"2026-03-25T21:44:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/560597\/"},"modified":"2026-03-25T21:44:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-25T21:44:08","slug":"murder-she-wrote-movie-with-jamie-lee-curtis-sets-2027-release-date","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/560597\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Murder, She Wrote&#8217; Movie With Jamie Lee Curtis Sets 2027 Release Date"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tJessica Fletcher is back on the case as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/saturday-night-live-writers-murder-she-wrote-mapleworth-murders-1234991359\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Murder, She Wrote<\/a> movie sets its plan of attack.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/universal-pictures\/\" id=\"auto-tag_universal-pictures_1\" data-tag=\"universal-pictures\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Universal Pictures<\/a> announced Wednesday that its feature version of the Emmy-winning crime series will hit theaters Dec. 22, 2027. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/jamie-lee-curtis\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jamie-lee-curtis_1\" data-tag=\"jamie-lee-curtis\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jamie Lee Curtis<\/a> stars as mystery writer and amateur sleuth Jessica Fletcher, the role that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/angela-lansbury\/\" id=\"auto-tag_angela-lansbury_1\" data-tag=\"angela-lansbury\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Angela Lansbury<\/a> originated on the long-running <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/cbs\/\" id=\"auto-tag_cbs_1\" data-tag=\"cbs\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CBS<\/a> show. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tFilmmaker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/jason-moore\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jason-moore_1\" data-tag=\"jason-moore\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jason Moore<\/a> (Pitch Perfect) is attached to direct the movie from a script by Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo. The project adapts the series that counts Peter S. Fischer, Richard Levinson and William Link as co-creators. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAmy Pascal produces the film alongside Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Aditya Sood for Lord Miller. Murder, She Wrote was set up through Lord Miller\u2019s first-look deal with Universal and comes as the production company is celebrating the success of its box office smash Project Hail Mary. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAlso set for release on that date is the Sony <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/sony-animations-mystery-pic-buds-relocates-from-spring-to-christmas-2027-1236508787\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">animated feature Buds<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tMurder, She Wrote launched in September 1984 and ran for 12 seasons. Lansbury earned 12 Emmy nominations for her performance as the resident of the fictional Cabot Cove, Maine, who becomes wrapped up in solving murders. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tIn 2013, NBC gave a put pilot commitment to a series reboot of Murder, She Wrote, with Octavia Spencer set to star.
