BOSTON (AP) \u2014 Kylian Mbapp\u00e9 on Wednesday denied media reports that claimed Real Madrid examined the wrong leg when the France star sustained a knee injury late last year.<\/p>\n
The soccer show \u201cAfter Foot\u201d on French broadcaster RMC Sport reported this week that the Spanish club had initially scanned his right knee, rather than the left one, in December. Other media outlets in Spain ran similar stories, nearly all of them citing RMC.<\/p>\n
Mbapp\u00e9 played throughout January but was then sidelined for three-and-a-half weeks before making his latest comeback.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe report that said that they (examined) the wrong knee is false,\u201d Mbapp\u00e9 said at a press conference ahead of France\u2019s World Cup warmup against Brazil.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am maybe responsible indirectly for this situation, because when you don\u2019t communicate on what\u2019s happening, it opens doors to others\u2019 interpretations.\u201d<\/p>\n
The club said in late December that Mbapp\u00e9 had sprained his left knee.<\/p>\n
Mbapp\u00e9 said he has \u201cvery clear communication\u201d with Real Madrid.<\/p>\n
France plays Brazil on Thursday in Foxborough and faces Colombia on Sunday in Landover.<\/p>\n
On Monday in Paris, Mbapp\u00e9 said his knee feels fine. He was used as a substitute in Real Madrid\u2019s last two matches as he works his way back into form.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere was a lot of frustration, a lot of anger, and then also some anxiety at one point,\u201d Mbapp\u00e9 told French media late Monday at a promotional event. \u201cI had reached a stage where I didn\u2019t know what was wrong with me. I didn\u2019t go through that period in the best way. I wasn\u2019t the happiest player in the world. But I\u2019m happy now because it\u2019s truly behind me. It\u2019s all gone.\u201d<\/p>\n
