PHOENIX, Ariz. (March 25, 2026) –\u00a0The Northern Arizona women’s golf team wrapped up the third round of the ASU PING Invitational on Wednesday, finishing 11th with a team total of 28-over par.<\/p>\n
No. 2 Southern California won the team title at 23-under par, finishing 11 strokes ahead of host No. 23 Arizona State (-11). Fullerton’s Davina Xanh claimed individual medalist honors with rounds of 68-72-68 to finish at 8-under par.<\/p>\n
Lydia Lin<\/a> led the way for the Lumberjacks, finishing tied for 23rd at 1-over par. She carded a one-over 73 in the third round to close with a 54-hole total of 217 (72-72-73), the lowest score for NAU.<\/p>\n The freshman had a strong start on the back nine, opening on hole 10 and birdieing holes 11, 12 and 17 for a 3-under front side. A few setbacks on the back nine brought her final round score to one-over. Over three rounds, she totaled nine birdies (tied for 18th most) and 36 pars (tied for 30th). She tied for sixth in par-3 scoring (2.92, -1) and 11th in par-5 scoring (4.75, -3).<\/p>\n Amy Hodgkins<\/a> and Frankie Dezis<\/a> each finished tied for 55th at 10-over par. Hodgkins posted a four-over 76 in the final round to finish at 226 (75-76-75), while Dezis also finished at 226 after a 5-over 77 (74-75-77).<\/p>\n Hodgkins began her round on hole 12 as part of the shotgun start and recorded birdies on holes 1 and 7. She totaled 34 pars and five birdies for the tournament and posted NAU’s best par-5 scoring average at 4.92 (-1), tied for 26th in the field.<\/p>\n Dezis started on hole 11 and opened with a birdie. She added birdies on holes 18 and 9 to finish with three on the day. She totaled seven birdies and matched Hodgkins with 34 pars.<\/p>\n Sumin Kang<\/a> tied for 59th at 11-over par, closing with a 1-under 71 to finish at 227 (80-76-71). Her final round moved her up 16 spots on the leaderboard. Starting on hole 13, Kang made back-to-back birdies on holes 14 and 15 and added another on her final hole, the par-4 12th. The sophomore recorded NAU’s best par-4 scoring average at 4.13 (+4).<\/p>\n Nina Lukyanenko<\/a> rounded out the lineup, finishing tied for 75th at 18-over par. She shot a 4-over 76 in the final round to finish at 234 (77-81-76). Her round was highlighted by back-to-back birdies on her final two holes. The senior totaled 27 pars and seven birdies for the tournament.<\/p>\n As a team, Northern Arizona ranked 12th in par-3 scoring (3.27, +16), 13th in par-4 scoring (4.23, +35) and tied for eighth in par-5 scoring (4.98, -1).<\/p>\n “This was not the finish we were hoping for, but overall we can take a lot away from our experience,” head coach Brad Bedortha<\/a> said. “This was a great field with a ton of talent to play against. Unfortunately we didn’t have our best game this week, but a lot of lessons were learned and we will take them into a week of practices before heading to Napa for our next competition. We were able to finish on a positive note in round three shooting our best score of the tournament and I’m very proud of Lydia finishing tied 23rd in a competitive field with consistent play.
