The Puerto Rico native had a career .207 batting average with 55 home runs and 193 RBI.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;While this decision was not an easy one, I feel confident that it is the right time to step away and begin the next chapter of my life,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DWRHBk8kU7K\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Perez said<\/a> in a social media post. &#8220;I leave the game with nothing but respect and appreciation for everything it has given me.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img class=\" lazyload lazyload\" data-image-container=\".inline-photo\" height=\"320\" width=\"570\"\/>Roberto Perez spent eight of his 10 big league seasons with Cleveland.\u00a0AP Photo\/Chris Carlson<\/p>\n<p>He helped Cleveland reach the World Series in 2016, hitting two homers as the franchise lost to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.co.uk\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/chc\/chicago-cubs\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chicago Cubs<\/a> in seven games.<\/p>\n<p>Perez had his best offensive season in 2019, batting .239 with 24 homers and 63 RBI. He won Gold Gloves in 2019 and in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season.<\/p>\n<p>He played for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.co.uk\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/pit\/pittsburgh-pirates\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pittsburgh<\/a> in 2022 and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.co.uk\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/sf\/san-francisco-giants\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">San Francisco<\/a> in 2023.
