The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television has announced the nominees for the 2026 Canadian Screen Awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The CBC TV series North of North topped both the television and the overall list with 20 nominations, including best comedy series and best ensemble performance, comedy, and a best lead performer nod for Anna Lambe. Red-hot Heated Rivalry<\/a>\u00a0scored 18 nominations, including best drama series and best lead performer, drama for Vancouver\u2019s Hudson Williams<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On film side, 40 Acres leads the pack with 10 nominations, while the North Vancouver<\/a>\u2013 and Nanaimo-shot Blue Heron\u00a0<\/a>received seven nominations including best motion picture, best director and best original screenplay for Vancouver\u2019s Sophy Romvari and a best supporting role, drama for Vancouver actor Edik Beddoes.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so proud of all of my talented collaborators whose work is being recognized by the Academy,\u201d Romvari told Postmedia in an email. \u201cIt\u2019s a beautiful vote of confidence, especially for a debut feature, not just for myself but for many who worked on the film. They put their trust in me, and I\u2019m so grateful.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other nominated films with B.C. connections include Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery<\/a> and The Track<\/a>, both earning nods in the best feature length documentary category. On the TV side, the Vancouver-shot Wild Cards<\/a> is nominated for best drama series, while CTV News Vancouver at 6 and Global Newshour at 6 are both up for best local newscast.<\/p>\n

The awards, which\u00a0recognize excellence across 146 film, television, and digital media\u00a0categories,\u00a0will be presented over four days in Toronto during Canadian Screen Week\u00a0in May. The\u00a0celebrations\u00a0will culminate with the\u00a0Canadian Screen Awards\u00a0show\u00a0on May 31 (8 p.m.) on CBC, CBC Gem, Crave, CTV, Global, and STACKTV. The show will be hosted by actor and comedian Andrew Phung.<\/p>\n
