<\/p>\nPublic Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree says Canadian national security agencies are looking into a B.C. company accused of financial ties to the Iran-backed Hezbollah group.<\/p>\n

The RCMP and Canadian Security Intelligence Service are \u201creviewing the situation and then they will have more to say,\u201d the minister, who oversees the agencies, said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Anandasangaree was responding to a Global News report<\/a> that the U.S. government had sanctioned a Vancouver company over its alleged role in a $100-million Hezbollah<\/a> financial network.<\/p>\n Seven Seas for International Trading and Logistics was formed in B.C. in 2022 by three directors, all based in Qatar. Corporate records obtained by Global News show it remains active.<\/p>\n It has not been sanctioned by Canada.<\/p>\n The B.C. government said it had reached out to the federal government about Seven Seas, since Ottawa is responsible for sanctions related to terrorist financing.<\/p>\n Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n \u201cAny next steps from the province would be informed by that engagement with our federal partners,\u201d the B.C. Global Affairs Canada has not responded to questions sent on Monday.<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t\t \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t1:52 Hezbollah is a key part of Iran\u2019s so-called axis of resistance, a collection of terrorist factions that serve Tehran\u2019s interests through the Middle East.<\/p>\n Canada calls Hezbollah \u201ca radical Shia group<\/a> ideologically inspired by the Iranian revolution.\u201d The Lebanese faction is involved in the U.S. and Israeli war that began on Feb. 28.<\/p>\n \n\t\t\tMore on Canada Canadian security agencies have long accused it of fundraising and money laundering<\/a> in the country.<\/p>\n Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n Asked why Canadians had only heard about the Vancouver company as a result of U.S. enforcement action, Anandasangaree repeated that more information would be coming.<\/p>\n \u201cWe often do not talk about matters that are under investigation, and as you\u2019re aware, there are a range of things that our law enforcement do, including on national security matters, and this is one of those matters where they will have more say.\u201d<\/p>\n The U.S. sanctions<\/a> allege the B.C. company is part of a network led by \u201cHezbollah financier\u201d Alaa Hamieh that spans Lebanon, Syria, Poland, Slovenia, Qatar and Canada.<\/p>\n Its founder, Raoof Fadel, \u201cis involved in numerous projects with Alaa Hamieh and the Hizballah finance team,\u201d according to the press release announcing the sanctions<\/a>.<\/p>\n The U.S. Treasury statement said Seven Seas was \u201cHezbollah-associated\u201d and was the \u201cCanadian branch of Alaa Hamieh\u2019s similarly named Lebanese companies.\u201d<\/p>\n Reached by Global News on Wednesday, Fadel said from Qatar that he was consulting his lawyer prior to commenting.<\/p>\n![\"Get](\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1767930311_275_national.jpg\")
