Edmonton was part of the WHA previously and ended up securing Wayne Gretzky as their star player with expectations unknown. What an incredible time and experience those initial Oilers teams were turning into Stanley Cup Champions. Since 1990 Edmonton fans have realized that the genie is already out of the bottle. That\u2019s my takeaway from the skyrocketing oil prices following the U.S.\u2013Israel attack on Iran. This editorial claims that \u201coil dominates global energy markets and will for decades to come.\u201d Will it, though? Fossil fuels have enjoyed decades of dominance, but the cheapest way to generate energy is now with solar panels. I\u2019m no economist, but business-minded folks tell me that people don\u2019t like to spend money. Does Canada really want to double down on the volatility of coupling our economy to oil and gas when there are cheaper ways to generate energy?<\/p>\n MARY BLAKE ROSE<\/p>\n (Solar isn\u2019t enough. The demand and need for oil is a fact and will remain so.)<\/p>\n LNG LOOKING GOOD<\/p>\n Re \u201cIran war shows our need for pipelines\u201d (Editorial, March 10): It doesn\u2019t matter what politicians (re Elizabeth May \u2026 \u201coil is dead\u201d) or energy consultants say about the demise of oil and other fuels, black gold continues to dominate, as the editorial noted, and will continue to do so well into the next few decades.
