Jack Black<\/a>\u2019s band, Tenacious D<\/a>, is back with a new project after laying low for more than a year in the wake of a controversy that derailed their 2024 world tour.<\/p>\n

On Oct. 3, the band, which also includes singer-guitarist Kyle Gass<\/a>, returns with Tenacious D: The Complete Masterworks Vol. 3. The set, which showcases the band\u2019s June 16, 2023, concert at London\u2019s O2 Arena on their Spicy Meatball Tour, will be released on Blu-ray and DVD.<\/p>\n

A year and a month after that concert, on July 16, 2024, Black announced that he was pulling the plug on Tenacious D\u2019s world tour after Gass made a controversial comment about Donald Trump from the stage.<\/p>\n

During the group\u2019s show in Sydney, Australia on July 13, the band was celebrating Gass\u2019 64th birthday. When he was presented with a cake and asked to make a wish, he replied, \u201cDon\u2019t miss Trump next time,\u201d referring to the assassination attempt on the then-former president, during a campaign stop in Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n

Following the statement, Black took to Instagram<\/a> to announce he was \u201cblindsided\u201d by the comment.<\/p>\n

“I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form,” he wrote, adding that he didn\u2019t feel it was “appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour”, and that the rest of the group\u2019s “creative plans are on hold.\u201d<\/p>\n

With the release of Tenacious D: The Complete Masterworks Vol. 3 that hold appears to be over, at least in terms of releasing new projects.<\/p>\n

However, the press release announcing the title also notes that \u201cthe band is not available for interviews at this time,\u201d suggesting that Black and Gass aren\u2019t quite ready to fully promote the band again.<\/p>\n

The concert film includes such Tenacious D classics as “Tribute,” “The Metal,” “Master Exploder,” “Beelzeboss (The Final Showdown),” “Kickapoo,\u201d and more.<\/p>\n

The package also includes music videos for their cover from Kung Fu Panda 4, “…Baby One More Time” and Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game,” the D’s Oneyplays Studios animated hit “Video Games,” their Fiber d’Lish commercial, as well as their charity covers series including “Tenacious D’s The Who Medley,” The Beatles’ “You Never Give Me Your Money \/ The End,” and “Time Warp,” from the cult classic The Rocky Horror Show.<\/p>\n
