Stan Wawrinka<\/a> has joined the star-studded field at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell<\/a>. The clay-court ATP 500 on Thursday confirmed that the former No. 3 player in the PIF ATP Rankings has accepted a wild card for the 2026 edition, which takes place from 13-19 April. <\/p>\n A 16-time tour-level titlist competing in his final season on the ATP Tour, the 40-year-old Wawrinka holds a 12-6 record in Barcelona, according to the Infosys ATP Win\/Loss Index. He reached the semi-finals on consecutive appearances in 2006 and 2008. In 2025, Wawrinka returned to compete at Real Club de Tenis Barcelona-1899 after a 16-year absence. <\/p>\n Wawrinka was also recently confirmed as a wild card for the Gonet Geneva Open<\/a>, which takes place from 17-23 May. Top 10 stars Lorenzo Musetti<\/a>, Alex de Minaur<\/a> and Felix Auger-Aliassime<\/a> will also compete in Catalonia, as will Casper Ruud<\/a>, Andrey Rublev<\/a>, Jack Draper<\/a> and Arthur Fils<\/a>. <\/p>\n Swiss star Wawrinka has already forged plenty of memorable moments since announcing that he would bring his illustrious career to a close in 2026. The three-time Grand Slam champion is 6-8 for the year at Tour-level, a tally which includes a third-round run at January\u2019s Australian Open<\/a>.
