Per The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, as hard as it may be to believe, pretty much everyone making money off Hail Mary\u2019s record-breaking box office success wants to keep the ship in orbit, which means Captain Andy Weir better start writing. Weir, who wrote the novel Project Hail Mary, is reportedly working on a sequel that would, effectively, undo the last-ditch effort to save the cosmos from destruction. It really is one dying star after another with this solar system. Nevertheless, everyone\u2019s waiting to see if he can pull another Hail Mary out of that brain of his that would put Captain Ryland Grace back into the cockpit.<\/p>\n

Gosling, THR reports, was on board even before the original book had launched. He received a copy a year before Weir published the book and passed it on to former Sony chief Amy Pascal, who collected Phil Lord and Chris Miller, then recently fired from Lucasfilm\u2019s Solo, and put the project together.
