The Charlotte Hornets<\/a> enter Thursday night with an important matchup against the New York Knicks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A win for the Hornets would mark their fifth consecutive as they hope to position themselves better in the Eastern Conference standings.<\/p>\n

Entering Thursday’s game, the Hornets sit ninth in the standings, trailing the Miami Heat<\/a> by half a game for the eighth seed.<\/p>\n

As for the Knicks, they are looking for their eighth consecutive win, as they hope to pass the Boston Celtics<\/a> for second in the conference.<\/p>\n

Ahead of the matchup, Hornets center Moussa Diabate made an appearance on NBA insider Zach Lowe’s podcast.<\/p>\n

However, Lowe had quite a peculiar question for the Charlotte big man.<\/p>\n

Lowe asked if Diabate had ever been in a car driven by his point guard, LaMelo Ball.<\/p>\n

Given Ball’s history of reckless driving, Diabate responded<\/a>: “Nah, never will.”<\/p>\n

While Diabate has been eager to take drop-offs from Ball in the lane for easy baskets, it seems apparent that Diabate won’t accept a drop-off from his point guard off the court.<\/p>\n

This season, Diabate has been one of the most improved players in the league, averaging 8.2 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists and one block per game.<\/p>\n

He’s also performed amongst the league’s best on the offensive glass, tied for third in the NBA with 241 offensive rebounds.<\/p>\n

As the Hornets contend with New York Thursday, Diabate will hope to get the better of his counterpart Karl-Anthony Towns.<\/p>\n

Following Thursday’s game, the Hornets will host the 76ers<\/a> Saturday.<\/p>\n
