Headaches and dizziness are also common side effects.<\/p>\n<p>Prolonged exposure to poor air quality can result in heart disease, lung cancer, and conditions such as emphysema.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcgill.ca\/newsroom\/channels\/news\/air-pollution-silent-killer-called-pm25-329428\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">McGill University<\/a>, air pollution causes an estimated 4.2 million premature deaths globally each year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/health-canada\/services\/publications\/healthy-living\/health-impacts-air-pollution-2021.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Health Canada<\/a> estimates that air pollution contributes to 15,300 premature deaths each year in Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Header image: File photo from BC Wildfire Service.
