Then Check Out the Unihertz Titan 2 Elite

Six years ago, I reviewed the Unihertz Titan, which was an Android smartphone equipped with a Blackberry-style tactile QWERTY keyboard. I liked the concept, but felt that the execution missed the mark. Since then, however, Unihertz has refined the Titan and released several successors. The newest, called the Unihertz Titan 2 Elite, looks especially enticing.

As with all of the other Titan models, the Titan 2 Elite’s biggest selling point is the tactile QWERTY keyboard. But the keyboard’s design has changed pretty dramatically since the original Titan that I reviewed and it looks a lot better now. Not only do the buttons protrude more for better typing comfort, but the entire keyboard is touch-sensitive and can be used as a touchpad.

The screen also looks pretty darn good. It is a 4.03” AMOLED with an almost square 1080×1200 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. And to be clear, that is a touchscreen, so you can use it like any other smartphone when you aren’t typing on the keyboard.

The rest of the specs are decent, but nothing special. This is in the midrange territory for Android smartphones and it won’t compete with flagship models. It will be available in two variants: the standard edition with a Dimensity 7400 chipset, 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and 256GB of storage, and the Pro edition with a Dimensity 8400, 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and 512GB of storage.

Both editions are available in either orange or black, and both have three cameras. The front-facing camera is 32MP. On the back, there is a 50MP main camera and a 50MP telephoto camera. Those are high pixel counts, but I don’t think anyone is expecting the cameras to be particularly good by modern standards. Both editions also have 4050mAh silicon-carbon batteries with 33W fast charging.

The sales pitch here is pretty clear: the Unihertz Titan 2 Elite, like its predecessors, is for people who want an affordable Android smartphone with a tactile QWERTY keyboard, but aren’t concerned about cutting-edge performance.

If that appeals to you, you have until May 13th to back the Kickstarter campaign. The early bird specials are all gone, but you can still get the Titan 2 Elite for $397 or the Titan 2 Elite Pro for $487. Those should ship in June and October, respectively.

Six years ago, I reviewed the Unihertz Titan, which was an Android smartphone equipped with a Blackberry-style tactile…

[16
49,48,190,61
0":"post-564063","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-mobile","8":"tag-ca","9":"tag-canada","10":"tag-mobile","11":"tag-technology
["GET
