{"id":564557,"date":"2026-03-27T15:09:12","date_gmt":"2026-03-27T15:09:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/564557\/"},"modified":"2026-03-27T15:09:12","modified_gmt":"2026-03-27T15:09:12","slug":"canucks-autism-networks-adapted-hockey-tournament-in-surrey-this-saturday-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/564557\/","title":{"rendered":"Canucks Autism Network\u2019s adapted hockey tournament in Surrey this Saturday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>              Canucks Autism Network\u2019s adapted hockey tournament in Surrey this Saturday<\/p>\n<p class=\"pubStamp\">Published 3:40 pm Thursday, March 26, 2026<\/p>\n<p>A few hundred hockey players, coaches and parents from across B.C. will be in Surrey this Saturday (March 28) for a third adapted hockey tournament hosted by Canucks Autism Network (CAN).<\/p>\n<p>Games are played in Fleetwood on three rinks of Surrey Sport and Leisure Complex from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., including an all-star affair between Surrey Firefighters and Senior players at 4:20 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The tourney welcomes 14 teams of kids and adults on the autism spectrum and other developmental differences in a celebration of inclusion, days before the start of Autism Acceptance Month (April).<\/p>\n<p>For more than a decade, adapted hockey teams from across the province have come together for a day of friendly competition hosted by CAN, founded in 2008.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom our very own hockey program, the Vancouver Orcas, Surrey Stingrays and Coquitlam Sharks have been practicing each week since October in anticipation of the big day,\u201d says <a href=\"https:\/\/canucksautism.ca\/programs\/2026-can-adapted-hockey-tournament\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">the tournament website<\/a>, which includes the program, schedule and rules.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTogether, they will be among 14 teams travelling in from across the Lower Mainland, Island, and Interior. Let\u2019s hit the ice!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Junior and Senior divisions include Chilliwack Little Heroes, Vancouver Island Vision, Central Okanagan Wildcats and other visiting teams.<\/p>\n<p>An opening ceremony is at 10:30 a.m. on Rink 3, 16555 Fraser Hwy.
