Two vigilant University of Calgary SUVs now have names, and two witty members of the university community are now $100 richer, after the naming competition for UCalgary\u2019s Licence Plate Recognition (LPR) vehicles wrapped up on Feb. 16.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Students, faculty and staff submitted names that were bold, hilarious and wildly creative. Choosing just two winners was not easy, according to Ancillary Services.<\/p>\n

After careful review, two names stood apart: “Parks n Rex” and “Peter Parker.”<\/p>\n

These names have been installed on custom front licence plates on each car, becoming part of daily campus parking and carrying a bit of our community\u2019s personality with them.<\/p>\n

Congratulations to our two winners, who will receive $100 in UCalgary Bookstore credit.<\/p>\n

The launch of\u00a0Licence Plate Recognition<\/a> marks an important shift in how parking works at UCalgary. With licence plates now moving to virtual permits, the LPR vehicles play a central role in supporting a smoother, more efficient system. Naming them gave the campus community a chance to shape that change that felt collaborative and distinctly our own.<\/p>\n

To everyone who submitted names, thank you.
