The man accused in Monday’s fatal hit and run that killed a school crossing guard in Barrhaven is also facing an impaired driving charge from last year, CBC News has learned.<\/p>\n

Xzander Wright, 19, appeared before a judge on Friday. He’s charged with failing to stop after a fatal accident, which claimed the life of crossing guard<\/a> Peter Clark while he was on duty at the intersection of Cedarview Road and Kennevale Drive. <\/p>\n

Court records obtained by CBC News show that in addition to Friday’s court appearance in Ottawa, Wright was also scheduled to appear in a Brockville court the same day. There, he’s charged with impaired driving relating to an incident from July 2025.<\/p>\n

Records show that incident occurred on County Road 7, about 15 kilometres southeast of Smiths Falls.<\/p>\n
