LINCOLN, Neb. – The University of Washington Men’s Tennis Team upset Big Ten rival\u00a0 No. 54 Nebraska this evening by 4-3. With this result, Washington is now (8-10) on the season and (2\u20134) in Big Ten play. The Huskies return to play Sunday morning with a leg two of the roadtrip, against No. 34 Wisconsin.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
With their second Doubles point in as many weeks, the Huskies took the early advantage against the Cornhuskers off the back of a pair of wins from No. 89 Brett Pearson<\/a> and Soham Purohit<\/a> and Huskies No. 3 Rohan Belday<\/a> and Stephane Kamendje<\/a>.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Brett wouldn’t be done in Doubles, as would be the only Husky to record a set one winning set, with a 6-1 victory.<\/p>\n From set two, Soham Purohit<\/a> would take care of business, responding to a 3-6 set one loss with a 6-2 win of his own over Nebraska’s Leo Linquet. This win would spark the comeback as after Soham’s set two win the Huskies would find themselves down 1-3 with three matches to play. Meanwhile Hyeonseok would rally back from down 0-3 to force a tiebreak, where he would emerge victorious 7-2, for a final set two score of 7-6 (2).\u00a0

Entering the third and final set, Brett Pearson<\/a> after taking an early deficit 0-1, would go to win six straight games to give the Dawgs a lifeline at 2-3. Soham Purohit<\/a>, keeping in line with his doubles partner, would rally back from an early deficit to even out the scoreline at 3-3, with a 6-4 win. Hyeonseok Seo<\/a>, with one game winning set three outcome already this season against Tulane, would go to close out his own marathon match with set two going to a 7-2 tiebreak and set three going to 20 point break. This match would be a truly even affair with neither competitor holding more than a single point advantage until the very end, which saw Hyeon win by a final scoreline of 2-6, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (11-9).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0 \u00a0
