<\/p>\nThe number of people earning at least $100,000 per year continues to rise at City Hall in Mississauga.<\/p>\n
According to the just-released Public Sector Salary Disclosure \u2013 more commonly known as the Sunshine List \u2013 2,449 workers reached the wage milestone in 2025, setting a new record for staff wage earnings, which is about 30 per cent of the overall workforce of 8,378.<\/p>\n
In 2023, there were 2,099 City of Mississauga employees making at least $100,000, and in 2022, that number was 1,810.<\/p>\n
Those who have made the Sunshine List include senior commissioners and directors, managers, bus drivers, firefighters, mechanics, clerks, librarians, bylaw officers and various clerks, supervisors, inspectors, and workers identified as \u201cpark persons.\u201d<\/p>\n
The list is released each year to identify those in government who earn more than $100,000 annually. The purpose of making the information public is to provide transparency into the spending patterns of government bodies and other agencies at the provincial and local levels.<\/p>\n
One of the highest-paid people on the Mississauga payroll is former City Manager Shari Lichterman, whom Mayor Carolyn Parrish fired in June of 2024. Lichterman still collected $351,308.23 in 2025 from Mississauga as part of an ongoing contract commitment.<\/p>\n

The city manager is the highest-ranking non-elected official at City Hall and serves as chief of staff, and is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the municipality.<\/p>\n
Lichterman is now the city manager of Greater Sudbury, where her salary and benefits totalled $234,842.70 last year.<\/p>\n
Former Fire Chief Deryn Rizzi also continues to get paid by the city even though she hasn\u2019t been in the position for a year. Still, she collected $285,061.77 from the city in 2025.<\/p>\n
Rizzi is now the fire chief at Toronto Pearson Airport in Mississauga.<\/p>\n
As for people who still work for the City of Mississauga, the highest-paid person is the current City Manager, Geoff Wright, who earned $367,222.65 in salary and benefits in 2025.<\/p>\n
Forty-one other high-ranking staff members with the city earned more than $200,000 last year.<\/p>\n
Other notable personnel on the list include Mayor Carolyn Parrish at $165,025.48 (which does not include her position with Peel Region).<\/p>\n
As well, George Carlson, a one-time elected Mississauga councillor, was paid $165,670.31 in 2005 for his role as senior strategic advisor to the mayor.<\/p>\n
