{"id":566632,"date":"2026-03-28T13:35:08","date_gmt":"2026-03-28T13:35:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/566632\/"},"modified":"2026-03-28T13:35:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-28T13:35:08","slug":"ottawa-and-queens-park-fund-guelph-affordable-housing-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/566632\/","title":{"rendered":"Ottawa and Queen&#8217;s Park fund Guelph affordable housing project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"publish-date\">Posted Mar 27, 2026 04:32:50 PM.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-modified-date\">Last Updated Mar 27, 2026 04:32:55 PM.<\/p>\n<p>A partnership between the province and the federal government will create 18 new affordable housing units in Guelph.<\/p>\n<p>Guelph MP, Dominique O\u2019Rourke was joined by Guelph MPP and Green Party Leader, Mike Schreiner and other local dignitaries to make the announcement on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The funding comes from by way of the Canada-Ontario Community Housing Initiative and the Ontario Priority Housing Initiative.<\/p>\n<p>The feds are also kicking in an additional $4.5 million through the Affordable Housing fund.<\/p>\n<p>The money will be used to replace an aging two-storey, four-unit building at 60 Fife Rd. with two new three-story stacked townhouses. <\/p>\n<p>The UpBuilding! Non-Profit Homes project will create 18 new one-bedroom, affordable housing units. Included will be six fully accessible ground floor units. According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/news.ontario.ca\/en\/bulletin\/1007217\/new-affordable-homes-coming-to-guelph\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">press release<\/a>, these units will meet universal design guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s unclear when shovels will be in the ground.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Posted Mar 27, 2026 04:32:50 PM.
