{"id":568037,"date":"2026-03-29T05:44:36","date_gmt":"2026-03-29T05:44:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/568037\/"},"modified":"2026-03-29T05:44:36","modified_gmt":"2026-03-29T05:44:36","slug":"first-ever-national-kickboxing-official-course-set-for-south-surrey-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/568037\/","title":{"rendered":"First-ever national kickboxing official course set for South Surrey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>              First-ever national kickboxing official course set for South Surrey<\/p>\n<p class=\"pubStamp\">Published 8:04 am Friday, March 27, 2026<\/p>\n<p>A kickboxing first for Canada is happening at a South Surrey gym this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Golden Glory Martial Arts Academy is hosting the first-ever International Sport Kickboxing Association Canada officials course in the country Saturday and Sunday (March 28-29), according to academy owner Mostafa Sabeti.<\/p>\n<p>Sabeti, a seventh-degree black belt and former kickboxing world champion with more than 25 years of coaching experience, was <a href=\"https:\/\/peacearchnews.com\/2026\/02\/27\/south-surrey-martial-arts-pro-named-new-iska-canada-president\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">recently named president of ISKA Canada\u2019s amateur sports division<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The South Surrey gym owner who also earned honourable mention as <a href=\"https:\/\/peacearchnews.com\/2026\/02\/27\/south-surrey-martial-arts-pro-named-new-iska-canada-president\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Coach of the Year in the Surrey Now-Leader\u2019s 2025 Community Leader Awards<\/a>, said the course is a \u201cmajor milestone for our sport, and we\u2019re incredibly proud to be leading this initiative here in B.C.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So far, more than 50 people have registered to participate in the course, travelling from all over the Lower Mainland and from as far away as Quebec, Ontario and Alberta.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s amazing to see such strong national interest and support,\u201d Sabeti said in an email.<\/p>\n<p>Kickboxing in B.C. has faced challenges over the past few years, bu through ongoing collaboration with the BC Athletic Commission, Sabeti, ISKA and others have worked hard to establish proper rules, safety standards, and structure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow, we\u2019re excited to officially bring the sport back \u2014 stronger, safer, and more organized than ever,\u201d he shared, adding they\u2019ve received a \u201ctremendous\u201d response from the martial arts community, especially from coaches, clubs, and families who are eager to see opportunities return \u2014 particularly for kids and youth development.<\/p>\n<p>The course will be led by ISKA president Corey Schaefer, whose leadership has played a key role in standardizing rules, safety, and competition structures across multiple countries, Sabeti noted.<\/p>\n<p>Representatives from the BC Athletic Commission will also be in attendance to support and elevate the program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"First-ever national kickboxing official course set for South Surrey Published 8:04 am Friday, March 27, 2026 A kickboxing&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":564742,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[194299],"tags":[49,48,87674],"class_list":["post-568037","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-surrey","tag-ca","tag-canada","tag-surrey"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/568037","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=568037"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/568037\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/564742"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=568037"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=568037"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=568037"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
